Alison Gaylin

“Chocolate Syrup & Stories” welcomed Alison Gaylin, local author of “Hide Your Eyes” and “You Kill Me” to it’s August book group meeting. Alison let us in on her thought process and also let us know that there will be another in the series. If you like a murder mystery with great characters then you should give Alison’s books a try. Check out her web page www.alisongaylin.com or order them from the library here

Another successful summer reading program is under our belt! Bill Robinson closed the program with his “Wildlife Lectures”, always a favorite with children and adults. Children that participated in our summer reading program were given Pirate Booty Bags, a certificate and ICE CREAM!! We want to thank everyone that participated and be sure to take home your jewel with your pirate name on it. AARRGH!!

Scott The Magician Reappears!!

August 3, 2006

Scott The MagicianIt’s just not a Summer Reading Program unless Scott is here! After a one year hiatus Scott returns! Scott amazed the children and the adults with his great magic. When we thought he was saying goodbye he remembered he had a Magician’s Treasure Chest to show us. Inside was a Pirate Calculator. He then did a trick using the Pirate Calculator and then told all the children how the trick worked. After his performance all the kids were invited to go up to his Treasure Chest and take home their own Pirate Calculator! We’d like to thank Scott for coming and also the Legion Hall for letting us use their space (with A/C) during this heat wave (Cooler today. Probably only 100 degrees!!)
